EL CAP CHALLENGE '26

Join our El Cap Challenge and Climb 3,000 ft. in 31 days!

This is a members only competition–receive a sweet event sticker for completing the challenge & there will be prizes from Adidas Five Ten for some of the top times!

Rules & Details

  • Climbers simply need to get to the top of each route; falls and hangs are ok!
  • Measurements refer to the elevation gain, NOT the distance traveled. This means that climbers will not be rewarded with the extra feet gained by climbing through the underside of the Arch. Similarly, downclimbing and traversing do NOT count for height gained.
  • You may repeat climbs, but please be mindful of climbing the same route back-to-back especially during busy hours of the gym. Share the routes with others!
  • Each area of the gym has an approximate height (please review our map for reference):
    • T-Wall, East & West Training Rooms, & Center Fin: 27 ft.
    • Alcove, Two Cracks, North Face, & South Face: 32 ft.
    • Left Overhang, Right Overhang, Left & Right Fin, and Arch: 45 ft.
  • Tape will mark the border between the Arch and its neighbors (Alcove, Two Cracks, North face, South face).
  • There will be only one division for all participants!

Scoring

Scoresheets are available at the front desk for your convenience, but they are not required. You must complete this online form for each of your sessions to record your climbs.

All participants who complete the challenge will receive an event sticker, and awards will be given to the top three fastest times. Your time will be tracked based on the start time of your first form submission and the finish time of your last submission. For example, if Sam’s first session is on March 2nd, and she climbs several times per week but doesn’t hit the 3,000ft mark until March 26th, her total time is 24 days. If Keith begins the challenge at 6am on March 27th and finishes at 6pm on the same day, his total time is 12 hours.
